Customers in Vietnam can now use AWS Outposts to achieve a consistent hybrid experience for their onpremises workloads, while seamlessly connecting to a broad array of AWS services in any AWS Region

Today, Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com company, announced the general availability of AWS Outposts in Vietnam. AWS Outposts is a fully managed service that gives customers access to the AWS infrastructure, services, APIs, and tools in virtually any data center or co-location facility for a consistent hybrid experience. With AWS Outposts, customers can run AWS compute, storage, database, and other services locally and access the full range of services available in any AWS Region to build, manage, and scale their on-premises applications.

AWS Outposts

AWS Outposts is ideal for customers that want a consistent AWS development experience across their entire IT infrastructure, but they have workloads that must stay on-premises because of low-latency or, local data processing preference. These include applications that generate near-real-time responses, communicate with other on-premises systems, or control on-site equipment such as machines on a factory floor, health-management systems, financial-transaction applications, or real-time gaming and video streaming. AWS Outposts also helps customers to more easily migrate to the cloud by segmenting parts of an application with local system interdependencies, such as connections to latency-sensitive internal systems that might be challenging to migrate all at once. Once segmented, customers can focus on modernizing application interdependencies on premises and then complete their migration to the cloud when ready.

“AWS innovates on behalf of customers, and we are excited to bring AWS Outposts to Vietnam,” said Conor McNamara, Managing Director of ASEAN at AWS. “Customers in Vietnam already benefit from the agility and scale of AWS, but they have not been able to extend those same advantages to their onpremises workloads. With AWS Outposts, customers’ on-premises workloads run using the same fully managed AWS infrastructure, services, APIs, and tools they already use to run the rest of their applications in an AWS Region, allowing customers to focus on driving innovation for their businesses and customers.”

AWS Outposts is available as a 42U rack that can scale from one to 96 racks to create pools of compute and storage capacity.

With AWS Outposts, customers can choose from a range of pre-validated configurations offering a mix of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS), and Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) capacity designed to meet a variety of applications and data-residency needs. Customers can then easily run a broad range of services locally, including Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS), Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS), Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), and Amazon EMR, and can connect directly to regional services like Amazon DynamoDB through private connections.

VPBank

VPBank, one of the fastest growing banks in Vietnam and a recipient of an outstanding digital banking transformation bank award in 2020 from the Vietnam Banks Association and International Data Group Vietnam (IDG Vietnam), welcomed the announcement. “At VPBank, the ability to experiment, scale, innovate, and be cost-effective are top priorities,” said Augustine Wong, CIO of VPBank. “We have been working with AWS for more than three years, and AWS helps us to be agile, fully configurable, cost efficient, and secure. We are excited to explore AWS Outposts to integrate on-premises workloads with the rest of the applications in AWS Cloud easily and seamlessly, helping us achieve compliance requirements while driving innovation.”

Members of the AWS Partner Network (APN) such as Renova Cloud also welcomed the announcement in Vietnam.

“AWS Outposts will help us to better serve our customers, including government-owned organisations in highly regulated industries such as healthcare, insurance, and financial services,” said Doron Shachar, Founder and CEO of Renova Cloud. “With AWS Outposts, we can provide a seamless and secure hybrid experience in how they build, operate, and manage their application workloads across cloud and on-premises environments.”
